Sewer Repair KC handles sewer line repair in Kansas City and across the metro: Overland Park, Olathe, Independence, Lee's Summit and Kansas City, Kansas. Every job starts with a camera inspection. You watch the footage, we mark the problem in the yard, and you get a written price by the foot before anyone digs. Trenchless lining and pipe bursting when the pipe allows it, open-cut sewer line replacement when it doesn't — and we tell you which one you need and why.

Most of Kansas City still drains through clay pipe laid before your grandparents were born. Roots find every joint. Cast iron rusts from the inside. We don't sell you a replacement you don't need — we put a camera in first, show you the footage, and give you a price by the foot before anyone touches a shovel.

How we fix it

Four methods.The pipe picks one.

Close-up of a sewer inspection camera lens

Camera inspection

A self-leveling camera goes in through the cleanout and records the whole run to the main. You see roots, cracks, offsets and bellies on the screen, with the distance marked in feet. We locate the problem from the surface and mark it.

About camera inspection
Pipes in a small access pit dug in the ground

Trenchless lining

A resin-saturated felt liner is inverted through the old pipe and cured in place. The result is a jointless pipe inside the pipe, roots locked out, no trench across the lawn. Done in a day when the host pipe is sound.

$80–$200 per foot

Pipe bursting

A bursting head is pulled through the old line, splitting it outward while a new HDPE pipe follows behind. Two small pits instead of a forty-foot ditch. The right call when clay or cast iron has collapsed but the route is straight.

$90–$220 per foot

Open excavation, when it is the honest answer

A belly holding water, a crushed section under the slab, a line that has separated: some problems cannot be lined or burst. We dig a neat trench, replace with SDR-35 PVC, compact in lifts and put the yard back. You will know beforehand why this was the only right way.

Clay pipe and tree roots

Most homes built before 1975 in Kansas City drain through vitrified clay laid in 3-foot sections. Every joint is a door for roots. The pipe stays sound for a century, the joints do not.

Cast iron from the 50s–70s

Under the slab and inside the house, cast iron rusts from the inside out. Scale builds up, the bottom channel thins, and one day the drain is half its original diameter.

Backups after heavy rain

When the main surcharges in a storm, the lowest drain in the house is the relief valve. A backwater valve and a clean lateral keep it from being yours.

Questions

Straight answers.

Each service page has its own FAQ: trenchless, camera inspection, cost, insurance.

How much does sewer line repair cost in Kansas City?

A spot repair typically runs $1,200–$3,500. Trenchless lining runs $80–$200 per foot ($4,000–$12,000 for a typical house line). Full replacement by open excavation runs $50–$250 per foot depending on depth and what is on top of the pipe. Every job starts with a camera inspection so the number you get is written and by the foot. See the full cost breakdown and calculator.

Do you really do same-day camera inspections?

Yes. Crews run across the metro every day and an inspection takes about an hour. Call before noon and we are usually in the line the same afternoon; emergencies get priority around the clock.

Can my sewer line be fixed without digging up the yard?

Often. If the pipe is still round and holds its shape, cured-in-place lining fixes cracks, root intrusion and leaking joints through the existing cleanout. If the pipe has collapsed or has a belly, lining is not the honest answer and we will tell you. Read more on trenchless sewer repair.

Who is responsible for the sewer line, me or the city?

In Kansas City, MO and in KCK the homeowner owns the lateral from the house to the connection at the public main, including the part under the sidewalk and street in most cases. The city maintains the main. Details by jurisdiction are on our responsibility page.

Which areas do you cover?
